Competitors 2012

Kittens

Name; Saara Forsström

Age; 22 years

From; Espoo, Finland

Training background; My history in sports is a bit unusual for a pole dancer since I've played ice-hockey and football since I was 7 years old. I've always been interested in gymnastics and dancing but especially love for ice-hockey has kept me busy during my whole life. I discovered pole dance first as supportive form of training for hockey but got so badly caught into the acrobatic form of dancing that I decided to take brake from games and give pole dance a try. I've trained this challenging sport for 7 months now. Previous competitions; Battle of the pole 2012 will be my very first competition. Game on! ;)

Name; Maine Anita Teigen

Age; 23 years

From; Norway

Training background; Been poledancing for almost one year now at The pole room. Got background from ballet and samba, but poledance its now the one and only main sport.

Previous competitions; Never competed.

Name: Felicia Karlsson
Age: 18 years
From: Sundsvall, Sweden
Training background:

Dance in itself has never been an interest for me, but after testing pole dance – I was caught! I have now been training pole dance for 6 months and I love it! I love challenges and I have never competed in pole dance before – and that's why I applied for battle of the pole – a fun and a new type of challenge!

When I am not training pole dance I´m studying my last year at the social science programme.

Previous competitions; None

Name; Katerina Flakstad

Age; 29 years

From; Saint-Petersburg, Russia

Training background; My acquaintance with Pole began for almost 10 month ago at Sometimes pole studio in Oslo, when my youngest son was 5 months old, in order to get back in shape after giving birth to two lovely children. I fell in love with Pole dance as it is both challenging exercise for my body and beautifull dance for my mind. It seems to me now that you can never reach a bottom line in pole practice, it is always something new to try. For 5 years ago I was actively dancing salsa and swing. I'm currently studying Management at BI in Oslo.

Previous competitions; None, It's an honour for me to participate in Battle of the Pole 2011.

Age: 22 years
Country: Bærum, Norway
Training background:

I started Poledancing at Sometimes Pole Studio in february 2011, and started woring there in june 2011. And I love every minute of it :)
I love poledancing because there is always something new to learn, and you can make it as easy or difficult as you like. And I love that it combines strength and dancing, and I think poledancing is really beautiful.

Dancing background: I have been dancing Freestyle/discojazz for many years, but had to quit a few years ago because of a back injury. After a year of strengthen up my body, especially my back, I were ready to start dancing again, but I wanted to find something where I could combine strenght and dance. And then I found poledancing, and I have loved it ever since :)

I wantet to wait a year before joining this competition, because I had a jaw surgery ten weeks ago, and could not do any training for 6 weeks and felt that it would be to soon to compete allready in january 2012. But had a change of heart a few weeks ago and desided to try anyway, and here I am :)
